Code of Conduct

For the enjoyment and safety of all tour participants, guides, and others encountered during a tour, Tours of Leeds operates the following Code of Conduct.

The code is written with guided tour guests in mind, but the principles also apply to guests taking self-guided audio tours.

Summary of Key Points

  • Treat others with respect.
  • Discrimination will not be tolerated.
  • No fancy dress.
  • Do not attend a tour under the influence of alcohol.
  • Illegal substances will not be tolerated.

Treat Others with Respect

  • All participants represent Tours of Leeds. Your behaviour can influence our reputation.
  • Participants are expected to act responsibly and treat others with respect.
  • On guided tours, if a participant’s behaviour upsets others or damages our reputation, the guide may ask them to leave. Participants asked to leave will not be entitled to a refund.

Discrimination

  • Tours must be safe and enjoyable for everyone. Discrimination on any grounds — including gender, sexuality, race, religion or belief, social class, health, age, or disability — will not be tolerated.
  • If a participant feels unsafe, alert the guide immediately. The guide will ensure your safety.
  • Participants behaving in a discriminatory way will be asked to leave the tour without a refund.
  • Serious offences may be reported to the Police.

No Fancy Dress

  • Special occasion groups are welcome, but fancy dress is not permitted due to venue requirements.
  • Participants arriving in fancy dress may be asked to change into suitable clothing before re-joining the tour.
  • Participants who choose not to re-join do so voluntarily and will not receive a refund.

Under the Influence of Alcohol

  • Participants who arrive under the influence of alcohol, and whose condition risks the safety or enjoyment of others, will be asked to leave the tour.
  • Participants removed for this reason will not be offered a refund.

Illegal Substances

  • Participants found in possession of, or using, illegal substances will be asked to leave the tour.
  • Venues will be informed if the incident occurs on their premises.
  • Serious offences may be reported to the Police.
  • Participants removed for this reason will not be offered a refund.
